The diagnosis, prognosis, and management of patients with cutaneous malignancies is rapidly evolving due to new understanding, guidelines, and regulatory approvals. This symposium is designed to update participants on important topics in cutaneous oncology and melanoma. Penn Medicine and guest faculty will provide updates on issues critical to patient management. Participants will gain up-to-date, practical information with immediate clinical application, as well as a technical and scientific background on the current state of the field and emerging advances.
The target audience is dermatologists, dermatophathologists, medical oncologists, hematologists/oncologists, surgical oncologists, radiation oncologists, primary care physicians, oncology nurses, and other healthcare professionals who care for patients with melanoma.
At the completion of this course, participations should be able to:
Identify the indications for sentinel lymph node biopsy and adjuvant therapy for melanoma
Discuss newer techniques in diagnosing pigmented lesions
Identify new therapeutic options for malignant melanoma including individualizing therapy selection
Explain problematic pigmented lesions in the pediatric population
Describe cutaneous toxicities of current melanoma therapy
